ACENET: Introductory Programming for Humanities & Social Science

Introductory workshop for researchers/students who are interested in programming basics for Humanities and Social Sciences applications.

No prior experience with programming is required. Applications include digital data organization and preparation in the humanities, and internet data collection from platforms such as Twitter

Introduction to Unix Shell*

Regular Expressions

Python for Humanities*

Internet data and API querying with Python

*Workshop is partially based on Software-Carpentry (SWC) materials.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all four as later sessions build on previous material. You need to have a laptop with a Mac, Linux or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc) on which you have administrative privileges, as you will need to pre-load specific software packages.

Monday, November 22nd - 12:00pm - 3:00pm (Atlantic Time)

Tuesday, November 23rd - 12:00pm - 3:00pm (Atlantic Time)

Participants must register using their institutional / organizational email address (not a personal email, ie. gmail).
