ACENET has implemented GridFTP for high speed transfers between our clusters. Using this tool you can see transfer speed ups between 1.5x and 16x depending on where you are transferring from and how busy the network is.

Please read [[GridFTP]] for more information.

PLACENTIA	January 28th, 2010, from 7am to midnight NFLD
FUNDY February 9th, 2010, from 7am to midnight ATLANTIC

INFINIBAND PERFORMANCE ON ACENET
--------------------------------
At the end of 2009, ACENET deployed a high bandwidth, low latency Infiniband
interconnect at Fundy and Placentia. Sergiy Khan has written a report
demonstrating some impressive performance increases now being experienced by
users, without even needing to recompile code. For example, a GROMACS user
running 32 processes could see a 6x performance increase.

SGI MACHINES DECOMMISSIONED
---------------------------------
The ACENET SGI cluster at MUN (Skuld, Urdur, Verdandi) is scheduled for decommission in April of 2010.
In the interim, no new SGI accounts will be created and we will work to migrate existing users to more
suitable resources.

Please contact Michelle Shaw (michelles@mun.ca) with any concerns.
