04 Oct Resource Allocation Competitions (RAC) 2017
There have been some changes this year to the Resource Allocation Competition
The RAC will now consist of four streams.
The Research Platforms & Portals (RPP) competition is targeted specifically at applications that create new or support existing research platforms or portals. Allocations in this competition may be awarded over multiple years, up to a maximum of three years. The deadline for Notices of Intent was Thursday Sept. 22. The full competition opens October 6.
Resources for Research Groups (RRG) was previously referred to as the Resource Allocation Competition (RAC). The name has been changed to more clearly distinguish it from the overall Research Allocation Competition. This competition is targeted at applications from individuals or small groups of researchers in need of additional compute or storage resources. Allocations are awarded based on the quality of the science, quality of the research team, and development of highly qualified personnel (HQP). The competition opens in early October, with a due date for submissions of November 24th, 2016.
The Fast Track allocations are by invitation only. Invitations will be sent early October with applications due November 9th, 2016.
Finally, the Rapid Access Service (RAS) is designed for any Compute Canada user to access modest quantities of compute, storage and cloud resources as soon as they have their account. The RAS allows users to experiment and to start working right away. Many research groups can meet their needs through RAS only.
Information on the new RAC can be found on Compute Canada’s website.
In addition, there will be two online Q&A sessions for all interested users. The English session will take place Thursday, October 13th from 12:00-1:30pm EDT. Register
