Requirements: a laptop with a Mac, Linux or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc), on which you have administrative privileges, as you will need to pre-load specific software packages.

This workshop involves practical exercises.

Using materials, the series will introduce you to the Unix Shell, Version Control with Git and Python. This is a beginner level workshop series that is hands-on, covering the fundamentals of Python, including data types, conditional statements, loops and functions, as well as program design, version control, data management and task automation. It will teach the practical knowledge needed to start programming, debugging and using Python in everyday tasks. The workshop will be of interest to: active computational researchers and their teams; anyone considering a research project that requires computational research; and students eager to enhance their career choices by expanding their skill set. Space is limited so register early.
