An event every week that begins at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, happening 4 times
Using software-carpentry.org materials this workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of the Unix Shell, Version Control with Git and Python. It will be hands-on and will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. The goal is to teach the practical knowledge needed to start programming, debugging and using Python in everyday tasks.
The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers. You don’t need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop. You do need to bring a laptop with a Mac, Linux or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc) on which you have administrative privileges, as you will need to pre-load specific software packages.
This workshop will run on Tuesday afternoons from 12-4pm starting March 3rd and finishing on March 24th.
This series has now been converted to an online format.
