Compute Resources.

Access hundreds of thousands of CPUs and GPUs, cloud space, petabytes of storage, and data management platforms through ACENET and the Digital Research Alliance of Canada's national network. 

Canada’s national compute systems are available free of charge to research teams based at Canadian post-secondary institutions, and provide:

  • State-of-the-art high performance computing (HPC) with high memory nodes and high-speed low-latency interconnect
  • Big data and analytics tools and environments
  • Advanced GPU systems for AI and accelerated workloads
  • Cloud computing and platforms for creating virtual machines, developing tools and portals, and suitable for websites. Set up as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and includes persistent and object storage.
  • An extensive specialized software library pre-installed to support most research disciplines
  • Containerization (Apptainer)
  • Temporary project storage
  • Longer term storage options (see Research Data Management below)
  • High speed, reliable, secure file transfer through the Globus portal
  • Reliable, secure data storage and backup accessible from your desktop, including NextCloud for up to 100GBs of data
