Board of Directors
ACENET’s Board of Directors consists of the Associate or Vice-Presidents of Research at the five institutions which have contributed significant finances toward our creation and continued operation, referred to as Major Resource Providers.
Among other things, the Board undertakes policy making, strategic direction, budget approval and the securing of financial commitments from funding agencies.

|David Burns||VP Research||University of New Brunswick|
|Ian Hill||Board Vice-Chair, Associate VP Research||Dalhousie University|
The Research Directorate (RD) is comprised of one researcher from each of the Major Resource Providers, and is chaired by a Principal Investigator (PI) appointed by our Board of Directors. The PI contributes both vision and scientific leadership to ACENET that encompasses scientific, policy and operational matters.
The RD advises ACENET on technical direction, resource allocation, and other matters pertaining to the assembly and operation of our infrastructure and operations. For this reason, the goal is that appointees equally represent the ACENET user community and those with administrative/operational expertise. The RD may also form Standing Committees on various matters pertaining to ACENET, consisting of individuals with the subject matter expertise who are otherwise not members of the RD.

Local User Groups (LUGs)
To help ensure that we adquately represents our users in our policies, strategic direction, operations, and at the national table, we strive to maintain Local User Groups (LUGs) at each of our member institutions.
These groups, chaired by a local user, are encouraged to meet on a regular basis to voice researcher needs, discuss various ACENET and national advanced research computing matters and provide insights to our operations.
Not all campuses have active LUGs at the present time, and anyone wishing to either participate or take a leadership role is encouraged to contact the representative at their institution.
There are local ACENET user groups at each of our participating institutions. Please contact your local chair to find out about meetings.
